The Trademark Timeline

Trademark FAQs

The ® (Registered) symbol can only be used after the Trademark Registry officially registers your trademark and issues the registration certificate. This typically takes 6 to 12 months.
A registered trademark is valid for 10 years from the date of filing the application. It can be renewed indefinitely for successive periods of 10 years by paying the renewal fee.
It is common for the Registry to raise examination objections under Section 9 (Absolute Grounds) or Section 11 (Relative Grounds/Similarity).
